Things are starting to happen

The Revd Rachel Sheehan has been coordinating the food distribution points operated by Church Wigan during the COVID-19 pandemic. This vital work is under-pinned by the systems and services provided in the background by Wigan Deanery Trust, and very shortly will be supported by our fundraising services, Rachel writes:

"It has been absolutely brilliant working together with Wigan Council, Adam from the Real Junk Food Project in Leeds, Shirley from Fur Clemt, The Brick, to gather and distribute food across our town.

"All of our volunteers are passionate and enthusiastic and do everything with a smile - we are extremely thankful for all that they are and all that they are doing to share God’s love!

"Our SDF managers at Wigan Council have been amazing, in helping us get extra volunteers, funding to be able to stock up supplies and appropriate PPE protection for our volunteers. It is great to know that we can pick up the phone and they are there to help in whatever way they can, should we need them (and visa versa).

"The links that have grown between Church Wigan and Wigan Council are just fantastic! We wouldn't be as effective in what we are currently doing, if we were not all working together - we are so much stronger together and it is an absolute privilege and joy to be serving our communities together."
